USDC on Base is Circle's native dollar on the chain Coinbase built — the canonical mint 0x833589fcd6edb6e08f4c7c32d4f71b54bda02913, issued directly by Circle rather than bridged, which makes it the default settlement asset for Base DeFi. Our October 9, 2026 snapshot reads $190.8 million of tracked pool liquidity.

The chain note worth saying: Base USDC being native means redemption runs through Circle's rails — no bridge custody between the holder and the reserve, which is the cleanest form a fiat-backed stable takes. The risk profile is the same issuer-shaped one as USDC everywhere (freeze controls, attestations, Circle's solvency); what changes across chains is only the custody path, and on Base that path is as short as it gets.
